“I commissioned Lynsey to paint a picture for my wife as a 60th Birthday present and after explaining the outline - Lynsey asked for some photos of the room in which we would hang the work. My wife has always had a special connection to The Sacred Kingfisher and living in New Zealand, this bird has a very distinct call and is one of her favourites. Lynsey sketched a small version of her interpretation before starting on the main work and we liaised well through the project with Lynsey providing periodic updates as the work progressed. The finished painting now has pride of place in our living room with the initial sketch on the wall in her study, so I would like to thank Lynsey for her skill and patience shown throughout the process of transforming my ideas into a well-received gift. Since hanging the piece, we have a young kingfisher visit our garden, singing from the pear tree on a regular basis. Coincidence or not – you decide.”
